Around one-third of the new building will consist of laboratories. This includes support facilities such as weighing rooms, pantries, storage and technical areas.

The structure of the laboratories is determined by the kind of work, leading to the following clustering: chemical, biological, and molecular-biological.

The basic assumption for the laboratories is a great extent of flexibility and optimal use. The laboratory modules are therefore largely standardized, aiming at multifunctional use. The laboratories can be easily adjusted to changes in tasks or disciplines, making them future-proof.

The second principle is that laboratories will be shared and the position of the offices is close to the laboratories.

The laboratories will be used by six different disciplines:

Biological
Molecular-Biological
Chemical-physical
Field laboratories
